Warburton Building Services was started in August 1979 by Bill and Mary Warburton. The office space was the family dining room and study and materials were stored in the garage and garden. Michael Jennings joined the business shortly afterwards and the office expanded to a mobile home in the back garden!
In 1982 a piece of land was purchased in Farmoor and the offices we are currently working from were built, complete with our own stores facility.
The Company expanded well and more employees joined, many of them ending their career with us, having achieved over 25 years’ service.
James Warburton joined the Company in 1986, followed by Claire in 1988 and Richard in 1997.
James took over as Managing Director in 2008 and after the tragic loss of both Bill and Mary in 2011, two new Directors, Paul Burt and Stephen Lee were appointed. Fortunately, the business went from strength to strength and continues to do so.
Josh Carr and Richard Bates were appointed Associate Directors in 2016 before being appointed Directors in 2020. James Butler was appointed Associate Director in 2019.
2022 has seen Stephen Lee retire and Andy Hodgkins appointed as Commercial Director.
Warburton is not only a good place to work, we also know how to celebrate major milestones. Events were held for the Company’s 10th anniversary and the 25th anniversary when all staff and their families were taken to Center Parcs for a long weekend. The 35th anniversary was held at James’ home with a hog roast, and fun fair theme afternoon for children and a band in the evening for the adults.
We celebrated our 40th anniversary at Milton Hill House Hotel with an afternoon reception for clients and a BBQ and disco in the evening for staff.
We have company horse racing days where employees and partners are invited to Newbury Races for the day and fabulous New Year parties when COVID allows!
We currently employ over 130 people, we have brothers and sisters, cousins, fathers and sons, mothers and sons so the family theme still runs deep
